W pobliżu Kairu znajduje się miasteczko i region będące wizytówką Egiptu. Mianowicie Giza. Tu znajdują się największe (ale nie najstarsze) piramidy. Obszar ten, pierwotnie rolniczy, w ostatnim okresie całkowicie się przeobraził, przystosowując się do obsługi ogromnego ruchu turystycznego.
Podróżując po Egipcie trzeba pamiętać o pewnej cesze tutejszej kultury. Otóż przyjęte jest, że w wielu sklepach ceny towarów i usług nie są podane. Trzeba o nie pytać, a wysokość opłaty jest uzależniona od... narodowości klienta! Poza tym targowanie się jest w dobrym tonie. Wypada negocjować cenę. No i warto - może ona spaść nawet o połowę.
